"We the people of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." What a paragraph! This sparse, 52-word opening of our Constitution did not merely launch a fledgling nation--but a bold experiment in democratic idealism.

CBC (Canada tv) described it thus: "The leftist candidate who has blamed fraud for his narrow defeat in Mexico's presidential election asked his supporters on Sunday to occupy Mexico City to demand a recount.
"Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador addressed hundreds of thousands of supporters at a rally in the capital. Obrador, 52, called on supporters of his Democratic Revolution Party to occupy Zocalo square and the main roads in the city core.
"He said the occupation would continue until the top electoral court orders a vote-by-vote recount of the July 2 election."

Estimates of the crowd range from "hundreds of thousands" to 2.4 million.
